What does babes supporting babes mean to you?
It means holding space for each human to be enough in who they are. To listen, to hold, to learn.
If you could choose your nickname, what would it be?
Easy. Teddy! I have a bit of a story around this. You see, I was actually supposed to be called Teddy, in lieu of a family name, but when I came to this world, my parents thought differently. I always had a thing about still wanting to be called Teddy, and gave them a hard time about it.
Cut to two or so years ago when I met one of my soul sisters, who was relaying a story of her mild disappointment over her given name; Anna Farrant, especially after knowing that hers was supposed to be Teddy too! What are the odds?! Well, safe to say, we are now in each other's phones as Teddy and have matching teddy bear tattoos. SO everyone wins in the end.
What is your spirit animal?
One hundo p, The Wolf. There’s a misconception that all wolves are ‘lone wolves’. In fact, this is far from the truth although at times I certainly would refer to myself as a lone wolf. The Wolf is a power animal with a high sense of loyalty and communication. Beyond that, the wolf main characteristics are freedom, instinct, connection to earth and others, and intuition.
What is your proudest babe moment or achievement?
This is a hard one. Mmm, Nah. Easy. Surviving. Surviving, then thriving.
What is the most unexpected thing you have in your purse or wallet?
I have quite the list for you and I have been waiting for an interviewer to ask. Current unusual items include: Boxing Wraps, Palo Santo, Bay leaf. Of course, I’m omitting the commonplace items such as a Pocket Pharmacy by Saje, Propolis and Echinacea Spray, supplements, face oil (i make my own serum) and snacks!
Tell us about a time where you were faced with a situation that you could have been unkind, but chose to be a babe instead?
Being unkind does not feel like an option to me, although being a human, there always is a possibility for your triggers to be switched. Ultimately, if I encounter someone and am able to hear them, and to see them, then I do not feel as though an opportunity for unkindness may arise. It's not good for my health.
What product would you seriously stockpile if you found out they weren’t selling anymore?
Now that is hard. Fatso? Ya, probably fatso. I mean, I think you were going for a beauty product but I am going straight for snacks. Other than that, May Lindstrom’s Problem Solver mask would probably be it.
If you had a yacht, what would be the name of it?
Hahaha. Oh gosh, I feel like this one deserves more time but for some reason, two vegetable puns came to mind. The Sea Asparagus, or Strong Morels.
What is the best piece of advice you have received now that you are in your career?
I forgot who said it, but it was something around showing up for the people that are there, not the ones you are looking for. There is this need for our society to keep grasping and grasping, but when we pay attention to what is in front of us, we do the work, flow is inevitable.
When I dance I look like….
Either an 80’s bopper, or a dance hall queen
Tell us about a Babe who has supported you?
Oh man, there are so many. But you know what, in the spirit of the work I do and what my instincts say, it really has been about healing the relationship with myself that even allows for the other women in my life to show up for me. This is something I see as a common thread for many of my clients as well interestingly enough. Be your own biggest babe. Show up for you, then gather your community and cherish the shit out of them.
Who do you channel when you’re about to do something that scares you?
My husband Dan. He is my other half and my biggest fan. It is magic to have him beside me.
What is your favorite destination to visit?
Maui. It is like my soul was birthed there. Every time I get off the plane I arrive spiritually, physically and emotionally. I am home.
What is your favorite meal to eat?
I've always loved breakfast and pancakes… but I mean nachos ain't bad either.
What is the most fulfilling part of your career?
There are so many things. From the bravery that someone steps forward with, to the possibility of change, the pursuit of happiness and the total trust in me. Wow, what a privilege.
Where is your favorite place to draw inspiration from?
I don't think I could define one. I am inspired by textures, images, fashion history, smells, and people. I suppose people and observing them.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I think I need more of these. But in truth, I think I just step away from the world guilt. It doesn’t serve me. But… I think indulging is important, and perhaps something I need to work on at least from a lifestyle point of view. it probably would be like, watching more tv. I don’t know. Something to tune out. Mindful mindlessness ;)
What quality are you working on yourself right now?
Taking time to care for myself energetically. This is especially important when I am working with so many people that I am able to care for them all individually and also keep myself in best working order. This is everything from smudging, to resting, to turning the device off.
What is the biggest hurdle you’ve had to overcome in business?
Maybe above. Honestly, I know when I show up as 100% me, the inverse flows in my direction. I believe in what I do, the people who show up. It's about hope, and everyone wants a piece of that, ya know.
If you had an unlimited budget for 2 hours shopping where would you go? Hands down One of a Kind Vintage in London, and probs Maxfields in LA.
What is your favorite movie?
E.T. Yes, I have a collection of E.T. dolls. It’s a thing. That's a whole other interview to follow :)
