Introducing one of our most supportive babes, Liz Trinnear. Liz is a reporter for CTV’s etalk, Canada’s most-watched entertainment program. Liz lives and breathes all things music and pop culture. After getting voted “most likely to become a MuchMusic VJ” in high school, she beat out 4,000 other hopefuls and landed her dream job. Liz quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry and eventually joined etalk as a reporter. Liz has been a constant advocate for Brunette the Label and has offered unwavering support from the beginning. We’re so thankful for her love of Brunette the Label and are so excited to share her story.
What does babes supporting babes mean to you?
For me, Babes Supporting Babes means showing each other love, not hate; bringing each other up, not down, and encouraging instead of competing. We’re all made different and in a world where we have enough issues to deal with daily, we owe it to ourselves and to one another to stick together.
If you could choose your nickname, what would it be?
My nickname since high school has been Lamb and it’s because I was blonde and pale (still am). I think I’ll stick with that.
What’s your spirit animal?
A Lamb. Trust me, they aren’t that quiet and innocent.
What’s your proudest babe moment or achievement?
The moment that started it all for me was the MuchMusic VJ Search in 2009. I still remember the feeling of winning and achieving something I had wanted for so long. I’m forever grateful to all of those who voted for me and supported me along the way. That moment opened up so many doors — cheers to many more!
What’s the most unexpected thing you have in your purse or wallet?
A pair of socks (lol). I HATE my feet and hate them even more when they are bare. cringe!
Tell us about a time where you were faced with a situation that you could have been unkind, but chose to be a babe instead?
In life, there are going to be a lot of people who try to bring you down, who say mean things about you or treat you maliciously but in those situations I remind myself to be the bigger person, continue to kick butt in my own way and just do me. No one deserves to put out your spark, so don’t let them!
What product would you seriously stockpile if you found out they weren’t selling it anymore?
At the moment I would say Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. Ughhhh it’s SO good. I have like three of them on the go. Say NO to chapped lips and YES to soft, silky pillows.
If you had a yacht, what would be the name of it?
THE LAMBNATION.
What was the best piece of advice you received when you were first starting your career?
To know my brand and never lose myself. I think it’s super easy in this industry to be persuaded to act a certain way so people will “like” you but in my personal experience, as soon as I was comfortable and confident in who I was, the rest followed. People like you for you and not some version of yourself.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received now that you’re in your career?
LIVE YOUR TRUTH. Life is short and be in the moment. It’s so easy to see and do all of these amazing things and have all these great experiences but if you aren’t present they will easily pass you by!
Red, white, or rose?
WHITE or a dry rose.
When I dance I look like….
Robyn in the “Dancing on my Own” music video… I may have my own version of the dance and it may or may not surface on video one day.
Who do you channel when you’re about to do something that scares you?
BEYONCE. I have this thing that when I’m nervous I like to dance it out and in my head I think “what would Beyonce do?” She’s flawless and fearless and exudes confidence.
