MEET SERINDA: Introducing actress, activist and lover of all animals - Serinda Swan. Serinda is a local Vancouver babe who started acting at a young age, and has used her fame to create positive change. As a daughter to film industry parents, Serinda starred in her first motion picture, Cousins, when she was just three years old.  If you scroll through Serinda’s Instagram page, you get to have a first-hand look at how much philanthropic work she is truly involved in. This actress has stayed in refugee camps on the border of South Sudan on anti-Malaria missions with the UN, cycled across Cambodia for 9 days to bring awareness to anti sex trafficking and has gone skydiving over 10 times at 18,000 feet for her yearly fundraiser for women's equality and rights. Most recently, Serinda has launched a gorgeous vintage brand 1914co Vintage.  We had the pleasure of having her brand pop up in our flagship store over the weekend, and are officially obsessed. Keep reading to learn more about this absolutely inspirational babe, and why we are so excited to be featuring her!

What does babes supporting babes mean to you?

To me, everyone is a babe. As you guys say ‘we are all babes’. It’s about living in your own unique truth. Not comparing or compromising or trying to be something you’re not but really just loving who you are and knowing life is a process of the unveiling of that beauty, that perfection. Now I know it isn’t this simple, I’ve fallen into these traps before and still do, but i believe it’s about the journey of coming back to yourself,  your inner babe, and seeing what truly matters to you. Who do you want to be with in this world and what is the change you want to make with your voice. Who are the people you want to uplift by your side and the women you want your daughters to have the opportunity to be.

If you could choose your nickname, what would it be?

Hmmm that’s a hard one. My name is difficult to abbreviate so I never really have a nickname growing up although I really wanted one. I remember my girlfriend and I decided that our nicknames were going to be smash and Silver when we were in 7th grade. So maybe I’ll stick with those bad boys lol.

What is your spirit animal?

My French bulldog Buddha.

What is your proudest babe moment or achievement?

For achievement I’d say either speaking on the floor of the United Nations on International Women’s Day or cycling across Cambodia to bring awareness for Anti Sex Trafficking.

But for my babe moment i think it would have to be shaving my head for work and laughing through it.

Fun Fact: even the producers were scared to be in the room because they didn’t know if they could handle watching the process. Everyone told me that it was ok to cry but I really just laughed through the whole thing as it’s been a dream of mine since I was a child. So thanks Marvel for giving me the opportunity.

What is the most unexpected thing you have in your purse or wallet?

Dog poop bags. They are everywhere. My purse car, pockets... washer and dryer...everywhere!

Tell us about a time where you were faced with a situation that you could have been unkind, but chose to be a babe instead?

This is a hard one to answer as I feel when you allow yourself and others dignity no matter if you disagree, then you act with grace and knowing (knowing when to say goodbye or when to draw a boundary, knowing when to release an energy or reengage and fight) this results in letting situations go and not living in them.

What product would you seriously stockpile if you found out they weren’t selling anymore?

Armani Silk Foundation.

If you had a yacht, what would be the name of it?

Phyllis after my Grandmother.
